10 - Gardens of the Eremitani and chapel of the Scrovegni
Padua
The Eremitani Garden is located in a very central position, but its size and tortuous little paths render it an oasis of peace. In the garden is the Roman Arena, built in 70 CE, the oldest theatre in Padua. Before leaving the gardens, one of the major Paduan treasures deserves a visit. This is the Scrovegni chapel. The chapel was built between 1303 and 1305 as a funeral chapel for the Scrovegni family and was entirely decorated by Giotto.
