It was in 1692 that Giovanni Antonio was called to hold the office of one of the highest officials of the Republic of Venice, the public scribe of the Sali who was in charge of checking on the production of the precious Piran salt. The office made good money and guaranteed prosperity for the family, one of the richest in Piran. When on 15th May 1699 Giovanni Antonio was appointed protector and benefactor of the cloister of the Friars Minor, his family obtained the right of burial in the church of San Francesco in Piran.
