ALONG THE STEPS OF A LIFETIME

35 - The pension

Padua

Tartini was exonerated from his job by the Orchestra del Santo for having reached the age limit and obtained a life annuity for his past office as first violinist and concert director. He was replaced by Giulio Meneghini, the pupil who had assisted him over the last few years, since the impediment to his arm had worsened. Meneghini thus kept his master’s teacher's alive, and it is thanks to his work of transcription that the corpus of Tartini's compositions has remained intact.
