Tartini sent Giovanni Battista Martini and the mathematician Balbi the “Treatise on music according to the true science of harmony” for their examination. Unfortunately the judgment that he received was not flattering, causing great sorrow in the Master of the Nations. These two scholars were not the only ones who expressed doubts about the Tartinian Treatise, as we will also see in the writings of Monsignor Le Serre of Geneva.
