In Strunjan, near the small church of San Basso, the Tartini family built a country villa with a spectacular view of the sea and the city of Piran. Inspired by the tradition of the rich Venetian families, the Tartini, in addition to their permanent base in the city, also had a summer residence in Strunjan. Their farm extended from the coast to the Strunjan Cross and included broad olive groves, saltpans and areas used for fish farming. In his hometown and in Strunjan, Giuseppe, who was called Beppo at home, spent a cheerful and carefree childhood. Today the Tartini family farm is a protected natural area within the Strunjan Nature Park, while the Villa Tartini with its associated park is State property used for State ceremonies.
